Dr.Yunusa M Garba

Founder of Algorizmi Health, Nigeria/Canada

Dr. Yunusa M. Garba is the founder of Algorizmi Health (www.algorizmih.com) and AiMedicare (www.aimedicare.com.ng), an Artificial Intelligence based diagnostic company and a telemedicine service company that built an ecosystem that merges telemedicine, wearable technology and big data analytics for patient-tailored Medicare.

He has a B.Sc. in Human Anatomy from the University of Maiduguri, a master’s training at Kampala International University in Uganda, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Max-Planck Institute at the University of Konstanz in Germany and is now a lecturer at the College of Medical Sciences at Gombe State University in Nigeria. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; a fellow of the Human Frontier of Science Program in Strasbourg, France; and a fellow of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, British Columbia, Canada. Furthermore, he is currently serving as the community builder in TReND in Africa (www.tredninafrica.org), a UK-based charity dedicated to developing research capacity and training in Africa. He engages African scientists to create research questions that will be relevant to their immediate community. He is part of the organizing committee of the first medical image computing and computer-assisted intervention Society conference in Marrakesh, Morocco (MICCAI 2024). As part of the preparation for the MICCAI 2024 conference, he forms part of the pioneer board members of the African Network for Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Imaging (www.africai.org), which comprises researchers based in Africa and those based abroad. He is also part of the organizing committee of the workshop on aFfordable AI and healthcare for Resource diverse global health (FAIR), where they so far organized two consecutive workshops in Strassburg during the MICCAI conference of 2021 in France and 2022 in Singapore (https://fair-workshop.github.io).
